5 training methods to burn belly fat faster
1. Peripheral Heart Action Training
Peripheral heart action training helps incorporate an element of cardio into your strength training without sacrificing the amount of weight you lift. “You won’t get weaker, but you can burn a lot more calories and achieve a lot more in a shorter amount of time,” Posternak says.
The best way to apply this training method is to combine an upper body and lower body movement in one set, or two exercises that combine opposing muscles, such as the quads and hamstrings, or biceps and triceps.
For example, a set of bench presses immediately followed by a set of back squats that only take a break after the squats. This will increase your heart rate and breathing rate, burning more calories.
2. Cardio Acceleration Training
This also includes supersetting two exercises, but instead of two strength training sessions you do a strength training combined with a cardio exercise without a break in between.
For example, you would perform a barbell squat with a heavy weight, followed by one minute of high knees.
3. Multi-joint training
The best exercises to burn more calories and belly fat are those that use a lot of muscles and different parts of your body. The clean and press is a great example of a multi-joint training exercise that will increase your ability to burn fat.
You can also add in more exercises to make a compound move even more of a multi-joint workout — this might just be the best idea in this list of workout methods to burn belly fat faster.
For example, you can do a normal barbell lift and when you lower the barbell you do a burpee and a push-up. Other ideas from Posternak include barbell squats with a top press, or lunges with lateral raises.
4. Drop Sets
This method breaks down more muscle tissue and will make you stronger faster. It simply means performing a heavy set of each exercise, followed by slightly dropping the weight you’re carrying and doing another set of reps with no break between each set.

5. Circuit training
There are several ways to do circuit training and you’ve probably heard of them. Posternak believes the best way to do this is to combine 5 exercises into one giant set.
“Set an interval timer for 40 to 60 seconds on and 10 seconds off. The 10-second rest isn’t your break, it’s there so you can move on to the next exercise.”
Do all these exercises, back to back, with no breaks in between. Don’t take a break until you’re done with them all. Take a 90 second break and then do the same set again.
