Cyclist killed in accident


According to RCMP, a cyclist was killed in a collision with a vehicle on Horizon Drive Monday morning.

The incident happened around 8 a.m. when a small SUV collided with the cyclist.

Police say a man in his 60s succumbed to his injuries despite the efforts of first responders.

Anyone who may have witnessed the accident, or were in the vicinity and has dashcam footage of the collision and who has not yet spoken to police is requested to do so by calling 250-768-2880 quoting file number 2022 -47898.

The RCMP has closed part of Horizon Drive in West Kelowna.

A person who contacted Castanet said a cyclist may have been hit by a vehicle on Horizon Drive near Westview Way. Another person said a cyclist was taken to hospital.

A man who lives nearby said he had to drive around to get to his house, which was behind the police line. A photo shows cones lined up on the road and officers standing by what appears to be a bicycle lying on the street.
