About Hulton: Motorcyclist dies in Manchester traffic accident

A man died on a busy road in Bolton yesterday afternoon after a serious accident between a motorcycle and a lorry.

Police were called to the scene on Manchester Road, Over Hulton, around 12:30 p.m. due to reports of a collision and found a 33-year-old motorcyclist seriously injured at the scene.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene and officers confirmed that the truck driver, a man in his 60s who remained at the scene, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and has since been released under investigation.

PC Simon Venguedasalon said: “My thoughts first go out to the loved ones of the man who has sadly lost his life and we are doing everything we can to support his family during this difficult time.

“Efforts are underway to understand the circumstances of this incident and a thorough investigation is yet to take place following an on-the-spot arrest.

“Therefore, we appeal to the public to contact us if they have any details or evidence that could help piece together what is another tragic clash in this case.”
