Ameren Illinois promotes help with paying bills | Granite City News

The summer utility bill application window will reopen in Illinois in about a month. Families who are having trouble paying their heating and cooling bills are encouraged to apply for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program, or LIHEAP.

Ameren Illinois recently partnered with the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity to provide $12 million in aid through the LIHEAP program. Energy Assistance Manager Kim Bond tells The Big Z that they see a need among their customers.

Assistance is available on a first-come, first-served basis, with applications being accepted from September 1. For more information, visit www.AmerenIllinois.com/EnergyAssistance
