Anthony Hopkins sees NFTs as ‘art in a new format’ – TechCrunch

As celebrities and both athletes dive into the cryptosphere to support tokens or companies, others look to NFTs as a way to connect with fans.

NFT collections have been launched by celebrities such as Paris Hilton, Snoop Dogg, Steve Aoki and The Notorious BIG (posthumously).

The latest entrant is two-time Academy Award-winning actor Sir Anthony Hopkins, who has teamed up with NFT digital collectible company Orange Comet to launch his own series, The Eternal Collection.

There are plenty of reasons why someone could launch an NFT project with their likeness. But for Hopkins, it’s about following his life motto: “everything is possible, give it a try.”

“NFTs are a blank canvas for me to create art in a new format,” Hopkins said during a news conference with TechCrunch. ‘It’s nice to be the oldest man on the street. I am interested and fascinated by young people and the younger generation – everyone seems younger than me now. Inspiration is mutual [and] I also hope to get some inspiration again.”
