Beautician Lesley makes ‘complete change’ with strength training

A YORK woman has made a “complete change” to her body after participating in a weight training program at a local gym and losing 15 kg.

Lesley Pearson, an in-town esthetician, has made a “total” change to her body, health and mind by doing challenging strength training at Definition Body Coaching in Nether Poppleton.

From squats, deadlifts to press-ups and planks, Lesley’s take on strength training has completely changed after her transformation. Now an impressive 15kg lighter and 11 waist inches removed for the summer, she said she feels great in her body.

Lesley, 54, said: “My weight started to go up, a few too many takeaways and bottles of wine. The last straw was when I had a little tantrum because I couldn’t find anything to wear for a night out.

“I had never trained with weights before. It made me feel strong and looked the way I wanted.

“It’s important for adult women to support our bones and help us look good in and out of clothes.”

Lesley said she has always had an interest in health and fitness over the years. But when she started having problems with her knee, she stopped running and most fitness classes didn’t suit her – so she needed a new route to inspire her to change her lifestyle.

Lesley chose to join Definition Body Coaching’s trainer Justin Shepherd, who has helped her build a weight training routine that fits her health and her commitments.

Lesley said: “Not having to run, ride a bike or even just burpee made a refreshing change to my injury and mind. I don’t come away so hot and sweaty these days, but I know I’ve had a good workout. It really suits me.” .

“My body has changed so much and it’s a proven way to get results.”

Many people found self-care, weight management and fitness even more challenging after the pandemic — and a new lifestyle hobby can really be the key to restarting one’s efforts, Justin said.

He added: “Lesley has shown a great open mind to try a new skill. Her change is very popular with our clients.

“Weight training is the number one choice for men and women if a body transformation is your goal. The benefits are not just aesthetic, but the health and mental benefits can change lives for many of us. I have been fortunate enough to witness so many changes on the people of York over the years.
