Belvedere fare evader fined for Deptford to London Bridge trip

A train evader from Belvedere has been sentenced to pay more than 100 times the price of the ticket he avoided paying in court.

Jack Fitzgerald traveled from Deptford to London Bridge on 4 January 2022 without paying his £3.80 train ticket.

The 21-year-old was ordered to pay £392.80 for the offense at a hearing in his absence at Bexley Magistrates’ Court on 20 July.

This includes a fine of £220, damages of £3.80, a Victim Support Fund surcharge of £34 and costs of £125.

Fitzgerald, of Norman Road in Belvedere, must pay this by August 17.
