Books and baseball returns to Wade Stadium

Books and Baseball kicks off at 1:15 PM at Wade Stadium with numerous activities leading up to the Huskies game against the Mudpuppies at 3:05 PM.

DULUTH, Minn.- The fifth annual Books and Baseball game is back at Wade Stadium this weekend, just before the Huskies game. Kids have the chance to participate in fun activities, including storytelling with some Huskies players. The library says this event is a good way to keep kids busy with education all summer long.

“We want to counter the summer shift when students are out of school, maybe some of their reading skills have declined or they are a little behind where they were in school, so between partnerships with Duluth Public Library and the Huskies and the summer reading program we are trying to help children to keep those skills, keep them entertained, keep learning all summer long by reading about things they enjoy and are passionate about, like baseball,” said Erin Kreeger, executive director of the Duluth Public Library.

The event will also feature a very special unveiling of the Duluth Public Library mascot.

We are going to launch our community naming process for the brand new Library Lynx mascot. To submit a name suggestion for the Library Lynx, come to Books and Baseball and fill out a form. it to books and baseball just drop by one of your library branches and they have a form where you can submit your name suggestion for the Library Lynx,” says Kreeger.
