BREAKING: Man, 36, arrested after woman ‘bundled in vehicle’

A man has been arrested on suspicion of kidnapping after a woman was allegedly bundled into a vehicle on a busy Tameside road. Officers descended on Edge Lane, in Droylsden, close to the East Manchester border on Thursday afternoon (April 28).

Greater Manchester police say the woman was believed to have been pulled into a vehicle on Edge Lane. Police received the call around 12:10 p.m. yesterday.

The woman was found safe and sound after a search by officers. Police have arrested a 36-year-old man on suspicion of kidnapping.

A GMP spokesperson said: “Agents were called just after 12:10 a.m. yesterday (April 28, 2022) to a report of a kidnapping in which a woman was allegedly pulled into a vehicle on Edge Lane in Droylsden. The woman was later found safe and sound. . .

“A 36-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of kidnapping. He is currently in custody and the investigation is ongoing.”

Officers have cordoned off the Randweg for several hours while they investigated the spot. A barrier had been erected near the old Gardeners Arms pub, traffic stopped to drive along the road, while a number of police vehicles were parked close to the intersection with Wheler Street.

The cordon was lifted before 4 p.m. yesterday, but police remained on the scene after the road was reopened. The officers are continuing their investigation today, while the suspect is currently in custody.
