Brockley shooting: Armed police duck into quiet South London street as teen is shot in broad daylight

A teenager has been shot in broad daylight on a quiet residential street in South London. Armed police popped up just after 3pm Monday (May 16) on Turnham Road just south of Brockley Station near Peckham. The teen was later hospitalized with a gunshot wound, but his condition is currently unknown. Police have not made any arrests yet.

In a statement, the Met Police said: “A man is in hospital after a shooting in Brockley this afternoon (Monday, May 16). Armed police were dispatched at approximately 3:15 p.m. to receive reports of a shooting on Turnham Road, a quiet residential area. Street just south of Brockley station. Officers searched the area but found no sign of suspects or victims.

There is still a crime scene, the nearby St Norbert Road is closed to traffic. A short time later, police were called after a young man, in his late teens, took himself to a South London hospital with a gunshot wound. The officers are waiting for an update on his condition.
