Detectives released a CCTV image after a woman was tracked into her apartment before being sexually assaulted. Greater Manchester police say they received a report about the attack at a flat in central Manchester around 10am today (June 24).
Police were told that the woman had been ‘abandoned’ by a man in her apartment building on Granby Row. It is then believed that he pushed through the door of her apartment before sexually assaulting her.
Officers investigating the incident believe it is linked to an incident in Plymouth Grove, south of the city centre, earlier this week. The police say they received a report of ‘suspicious circumstances’ on the road on Wednesday, June 22.

GMP is now moving to reassure the community after the incident. This evening, police released a CCTV image of a man they wish to speak to, and anyone who recognizes the person in the photo is asked to contact police as soon as possible.
Detective Inspector Geoff Machent, from GMP’s City of Manchester district, said: “First of all I would like to assure the public that we have agents in the city center and anyone with concerns can approach them. We’re doing extensive research to find out as soon as possible, but we’re enlisting the public’s help in identifying the man in the image.
“We would also ask people in the area to be vigilant and report suspicions.” Anyone with information should contact the police on 0161 856 6059, citing 966 as of June 24, 2022, or the independent charity Crimestoppers – anonymous – on 0800 555 111.
