Community Partnership Provides Free Books to Neighborhood Kids

CLARK COUNTY, Illinois (WTWO/WAWV) — Local elementary school students will be taking home some brand new books on Friday.

WTWO/WAWV/MyWabashValley.com partnered with Horizon Health, First Book and Disney to donate books to Casey and Martinsville Elementary Schools. Kids had many options to choose from. School leaders and Horizon Health say reading is important.

“Reading is the key to life,” says Martinsville Principal Victoria Norton. “You have to do that, no matter what position, what job, whatever you do in life. Reading is absolutely key.”

“Horizon Health believes that health has many different aspects, not just what happens within our walls and literacy would certainly be one of them,” said Marketing/Communications Director at Horizon Health Erin Frank. “We’re excited to have the opportunity to advance that literacy and associated family time.”

The children were very grateful and enthusiastic about the books they had brought home.
