Couple found dead after traffic accident on Stuart Highway near Larrimah

A man and woman have been killed in a one-vehicle accident on Stuart Highway in the Northern Territory.

According to NT police, the man and woman – 74 and 67 years old – were found dead last night by a passing motorist about 10 km south of Larrimah.

Police officers from Mataranka and Maranboy arrived on the scene and were diverted overnight.

Detectives from the Major Crash Investigation Unit have traveled from Darwin to the crime scene to start the investigation.

Detective Senior Sergeant Corey Borton said the crash was a “tragic way to end a long weekend”.

“While we are still investigating the causes of this accident, we would like to remind all road users to be extra careful,” he said.

“Slow down and take a break if you’re traveling long distances.”
