Verizon and T-Mobile customers in Cumberland County and Fayetteville experienced outages in their cellular and Internet services on Wednesday, something the service providers said they were quickly working to address.
“We are aware that some customers in your service area may be experiencing issues and our network teams are investigating,” said a Verizon customer service representative. “In the meantime, we recommend connecting to a secure Wi-Fi connection and calling via Wi-Fi to stay connected.”
The representative said she had not been given any details about the cause of the outage.
Local residents reported the nuisance on social media on Wednesday afternoon.

“Anyone else in #faync down on their Verizon phones?” one resident tweeted, with at least eight replies citing similar issues.
“We expect service to be back to 100% soon,” said a T-Mobile customer service representative. “While we don’t have any additional details at this time, we’re working to get everything up and running as soon as possible.”
Downdetector, a website that collects anonymous reports of service outages, spotted reported outages in Fayetteville Wednesday night for T-Mobile, Verizon and Metronet.
The outages were first reported around 4.30pm and they appeared to have been resolved by 6pm.
