Customers repeatedly pay days later after purchasing a single groceries

Some local shoppers who went grocery shopping on Saturday were shocked to find that an outage left them paying thousands of dollars for their items.

Taylor Graham, of Milford, said Saturday morning that she ordered groceries for pickup at Ohio 28’s Meijer. She spent $139.48.

Moments later, she got a notification on her banking app that her card had been charged $139.48 time and again. It quickly reached $1,000.

“I was a bit panicked and overwhelmed. We just had a baby, so we’d already drained our bank account of medical bills. You know, money is tight right now,” Graham said.

She called de Meijer in Milford and eventually spoke to a manager who explained that there was a problem with their processing partner and that some customers paying by card were being charged multiple times for a single purchase.
