Cyclist killed by truck in downtown Vancouver on Wednesday morning

A 28-year-old male cyclist died Wednesday morning in downtown Vancouver after being hit by a dump truck.

In a statement, Vancouver police said the man was cycling at the intersection of Pacific and Hornby streets around 7:30 a.m. when he was hit by the truck.

Attempts to save the cyclist’s life were unsuccessful and he died at the scene, police said.

The dump truck driver is cooperating with police and investigators do not believe speed or disability were factors in this collision.
