Doctor Who fans have welcomed the announcement of Scottish-Rwandan actor Ncuti Gatwa as the new star of the show.
The 29-year-old is the first black actor to take on the role, becoming the 14th Doctor after Jodie Whittaker announced she was leaving the series last July.
Doctor Who superfan and podcast host Paul Verhoeven told Virginia Trioli on mornings it was an exciting day for Whovians.
“Getting Ncuti to play the doctor is inspired… he’s ridiculously charming, he’s very funny, which I think is a very important quality,” he said.
