You may be able to think long back to the days when the Dodgers got Mookie Betts. Boston fans were clearly not happy with it as he was the cornerstone of their franchise. But the Red Sox had no chance to re-sign him to a long-term deal and he was sent to Los Angeles along with David Price.
And what a great time it has been since then. The Dodgers and their fans have fully embraced Mookie, as evidenced by the huge contract they gave him before he ever played a game in Los Angeles. And Red Sox had to watch.
Initially, the story was that Mookie was miserable with his new team. The calm way he handles his game and routine must have shown them that somehow he didn’t want to be here. Jared Carrabis, a notable Boston sports personality, led that.
But this week we have to see Jared admit how wrong he was. It came in the Dodgers’ win over the Padres that celebrated Mookie in the dugout with one of the funniest dances we’ve ever seen.
The man is having fun with the Dodgers. And why not? With them, he already won a title in 2020 and the team currently holds the best record in baseball. It’s good to be Mookie.
