Duldong Deng: Man accused of stabbing in St Kilda pleads not guilty

The person charged with the murder of a young Brunswick East man on a popular Melbourne beach has pleaded not guilty to murder.

Duldong Majiok Deng, 24, is said to have murdered the victim on the evening of October 27 last year on St Kilda Beach.

The Melbourne Magistrates’ Court was told Thursday that the case would be heard in the Supreme Court following Mr Deng’s plea.

Police allege the victim was alone in St Kilda when he and Mr Deng, who was with them, got involved in an argument.

Police allege that Mr Deng stabbed the man, who was rushed to hospital but died the next day.

The victim was in St Kilda “for no other reason than to enjoy” the beach on a warm evening, police said at the time.

Mr Deng, from Traralgon, will appear before the Supreme Court on September 5.

He has not filed bail.
