The health and fitness club sector’s reputation as recession-proof has been tarnished by figures indicating that the sector has fallen back to pre-pandemic size.

According to the 20th annual State of the Fitness Industry Reportthere has been a decline in the total number of sites, impacting memberships, market value and penetration rate, along with the highest number of full-time closures since registration began.
