TORONTO – The Juno Awards return to the stage tonight with a little help from a Marvel superhero.
Canadian actor and ‘Shang-Chi’ star Simu Liu will host this year’s celebration of homegrown music in Toronto with performances by Arcade Fire, Avril Lavigne and six-time nominee Charlotte Cardin.
It is Junos’ first personal show since the 2020 ceremony in Saskatoon was derailed by the COVID-19 pandemic and turned into a virtual event. It takes place on Budweiser Stage – a covered outdoor venue.
The winners for Album of the Year, Breakthrough Artist, Fan Choice and Rap Album of the Year will be announced during the show.
The Juno Awards are broadcast on CBC and streamed on CBC Gem.
Most Juno’s were awarded Saturday night at an industry event where Montreal singer Charlotte Cardin took the top spot with three awards, including Artist of the Year and Single of the Year.
Toronto-based pop artist The Weeknd followed with two wins, including contemporary R&B recordings for his single “Take My Breath.”
