Jurgen Klopp has been urged to hijack a potential Manchester United transfer for Christopher Nkunku should he lose Sadio Mane during the summer transfer window. Mane has just 12 months left to complete his contract at Anfield, as speculation about his future continues to mount.
Mane has been a key player for Klopp and Liverpool in recent seasons and is believed to want a new challenge after the Reds were defeated in the Champions League flagship last Saturday night – against Real Madrid – with German outfit Bayern Munich heavy favorites ahead of his. £30 million signature.
Liverpool signed Luis Diaz from FC Porto during the January window. However, they are thought to follow another attack in attack quarters before letting Mane leave. Nkunku has been tipped as a target for Erik ten Hag and United as part of their rebuild.

Benfica hot-shot Darwin Nunez remains connected in the same vein, while Nkunku, who started his career at PSG with big spend, emerged last season as one of the hottest properties in Europe with 35 goals and 20 assists – in all competitions – from 51 games. He would cost potential suitors more than £50 million.
Speaking on Sky Sports, former United and Australia goalkeeper Mark Bosnich said: “I wanted to say this is the $64m (£51m) question but it could actually cost a little more than that. I thought about that and then looked from the Champions League, there’s the boy from Leipzig, I think, Nkunku.”
Bosnich added: “He was someone who really stood out for me. I know Leipzig fell in the Europa League and was knocked out by Rangers in the semi-finals, but he was exceptional and that’s what I thought of when Mane leaves, what should I do then and that’s the one that came to mind.”
