Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert was noticeably muscular during Monday’s opening minicamp, and he says he’s worked hard in the weight room and has gained weight.

Herbert, who weighed 236 pounds at the Scouting Combine when he graduated from college, said he is now 245 after working hard with strength and conditioning coach Jonathan Brooks.

“Just lifting, we just went after it and we’re thankful to Jonathan Brooks, who took the lead,” Herbert said.

This is the time of year when players often say they are in the best shape of their lives (Patriots quarterback Mac Jones said the same yesterday), but the six-foot Herbert looks legitimately taller and stronger than ever before.
