Ray J insists Kris Jenner was in the middle of negotiations Kim and Ray J’s sex tape, but we learned that the business woman of the century was on hand when the deal was made.
Sources of direct knowledge tell TMZ that Kris never negotiated with Vivid Entertainment, which distributed the tape in 2007. We were told that Kim and Ray J dealt directly with Vivid and their lawyers.
This Doesn’t Mean Ray J Is Lying… He’s Maintaining Kris and Kim hatched the plot to make and vent a sex tape in the wake of Paris Hilton‘s. That could be true, but we learned that Kris was hands-off making the actual deal and had no contact with Vivid.
Of course, that doesn’t mean Kris wasn’t working behind the scenes, as Ray J claims.
As we’ve reported over the years, even though the Kardashians claimed they never signed to the tape, the reality is Vivid couldn’t have put it out without Kim and Ray’s autographs… if they did, there would be a blow to his dunk lawsuit, as Vivid was not allowed to use the name or likeness of anyone on the tape without their permission.
Kim sued Vivid before the band was released and that lawsuit was dropped… we were told because she and Ray got the deal they wanted and that paved the way for the release of the video.
As for $$$… we learned that Kim and Ray shared a $1 million advance, and together they got 49% of the tape’s profits. That works out to about $49 million, as the tape generated $100 million in sales. It is the highest-grossing sex tape of all time, beating that of Paris Hilton.
