although LAMB OF GOD has not officially responded to Adlerabsence from the shows, VIOLENCE singer Sean Killian revealed in an April interview that willie is “not done doing the vaxx”, referring to the COVID-19 vaccine, and is being replaced by demmel for dates in those countries that still require proof of vaccination from US travelers.

in April, demmel also filled in for LAMB OF GOD‘s John Campbell when the bassist had to miss a few shows “The Metal Tour of the Year” to “take care of a family affair at home at home”.

demmel‘s appearance with LAMB OF GOD marks his third high-profile fill-in appearance in four years. demmel came in for KILLER guitarist Gary Holt for four European shows in autumn 2018 na Gary returned home to be with his dying father. demmel also subscribed to Dave Linsky Bee OVERKILL‘s November 13, 2021 concert at The Wellmont Theater in Montclair, New Jersey and on the band’s Spring 2022 US tour.

In an interview in February 2022 with BLABBERMOUTH.NET, demmel discussed how he became such a much sought-after rental gun. “The KILLER something happened within 24 hours after I stopped taking it MACHINE HEAD‘, he said. ‘I think… [SLAYER drummer] Paul Bostaphu‘s girlfriend knew that MACHINE HEAD was done and knew I was home so they reached out for that. As the urban legend goes [laughs], I had three hours to learn 19 songs. It was quite successful; a fill-in journey, one of the most striking things imaginable – KILLER on their latest world tour. I filled in for my buddies NONPOINT, at. The OVERKILL performance was more about me and Bobby [Ellsworth, vocals] doing BPMD record together [2020’s ‘American Made’]. We are well known and I have a reputation for being able to learn songs quite quickly. The METAL TRUST, guys too. I play 25 songs with them in one night. It’s one of those quirky things where I can learn songs pretty quickly and pick them up pretty quickly.”

demmel was then asked if his nerves for the LAMB OF GOD and OVERKILL performances were on a par with playing with KILLER. “I was pretty sure of the OVERKILL songs,” he said. “We had three good rehearsals. I didn’t rehearse with KILLER not at all. I played two songs at a sound check. [Laughs] “Okay, we’re good!” It’s like, ‘Fuck!’ OVERKILL, we had a few days of rehearsal. I had two and a half, three weeks to prepare for that. I felt pretty strong about that.

“The LAMB OF GOD performance, that was a big problem. They had approached me before their… MEGADETH States toured last summer and wanted me to learn both parts, Marking [Morton] and willieAt night, just in case someone got sick, they didn’t want to cancel their tour. That’s where I am: I’m their bullpen man if one of them can’t make the shows, I’m good to go. It’s such a high-profile band. I didn’t want to go out and screw it up. I wanted the band to sound good. I wanted to keep those proud of what they are and not have a drop off. willie and I play differently. There is another vibrato in our left hand and pinkies. I didn’t want there to be a drop-off. I didn’t want people to be upset that he wasn’t there. And that’s no slouch willie. If I went to one of my favorite bands let’s say QUEENSRCHE. I want to see [Chris] DeGarmoI want to see Michael Wilton. No disrespect to the other guys, but they better fucking bring it with them when they’re not around.”
