Louisville Police Force Closes Downtown Streets Over Suspicious Device

Several streets were blocked Friday morning as police investigate a suspicious package in downtown Louisville after MetroSafe received a report of the package.

After further investigation, Louisville Metro Police officials began investigating and found a device that resembled a “pipe with wires sticking out of it,” according to a department press release.

Officers are investigating the device and are examining the rest of the area for “other potential threats,” according to LMPD.

In a Twitter post, police said the package was found on Fifth Street near Jefferson and Market Street. Police advised the public to avoid the area and advised people in buildings near the site to remain in place.
