Man ‘arrested at gunpoint’ as armed police dive north of Manchester – and stop in ‘suspicious’ van

Armed police dove into a ‘suspicious’ van and made two arrests. The dramatic scenes took place on Moston Lane in Moston, north Manchester, around 6pm on Friday night (May 13).

Footage from the scene shows armed police officers patrolling the area in the wake. A 27-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of possession of Class A drugs and possession of a knife, police said.

He remained in police custody Saturday afternoon for questioning, Greater Manchester police said. The second man arrested has been released.

Witnesses reported that one of the arrested men was held at gunpoint on the floor outside the Mowers Arms pub on Moston Lane. The white Transit bus was trapped in a nearby parking lot by police.



One arrested man is still in custody

Reports also suggested that the police helicopter was deformed. Police confirm that the arrests were made after the vehicle was stopped and searched. It was initially spotted by GMP firearms around 6pm.

In a statement, Greater Manchester Police said: “A 27-year-old man has been taken into custody after officers in north Manchester stopped and searched a suspicious vehicle.



The vehicle was spotted at 6 p.m.

“The van was spotted on Moston Lane on May 13, 2022, around 6 p.m. by GMP firearms.

“Two men were subsequently arrested – one is still in police custody on suspicion of possession of Class A drugs and possession of a knife article, while the other has been released.”

No further details have been released and the arrested men have not been named.
