A man is in critical condition at St Vincent’s Hospital after falling off the Harbor Street pedestrian viaduct near Bathurst Street in Sydney’s CBD last night, with NSW police establishing a crime scene with an ongoing investigation.

A relative of the man said: City center that the man is 16 years old, not in his twenties or thirties as police initially estimated, and was on a night out with friends when the fall happened. The relative describes the man as a “sweet young teenager” and that his parents are “absolutely devastated and have no idea what happened to their son”.

Officers from Sydney City Police Area Command were called to the Harbor Street pedestrian overpass off Bathurst Street at about 9:26 pm on Saturday evening after reports that a man had fallen from the overpass into the roadway and was seriously injured.

The man was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to St Vincent’s Hospital for surgery.

The officers understand that there may have been several people on the overpass at the time of the man’s fall, and are calling on any witnesses to “clarify the circumstances” that led to the incident.

After the incident, a crime scene has been set up on Harbor Street, as well as the overpass. NSW Police have said via social media that Sydney City Police are seeking witnesses following the incident, asking anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers at 1800 333 000.

The Day Street Police Station, which NSW Police have also asked witnesses to contact, is about 500 meters from the crash site. Police have reminded the public not to report information through social media pages, but through Day Street Police Station or Crime Stoppers.
