Victor Lindelof has withdrawn from the Swedish squad due to a recurring injury.

His miserable season with Manchester United was compounded by a World Cup play-off final against Poland in March. The 27-year-old was named in the final Swedish roster for their upcoming Nations League matches against Norway, Serbia and Slovenia.

However, the national team captain and first-choice defender has withdrawn from the group due to a ‘heavy’ blow to him towards the end of the season at United. The nature of the problem has not been disclosed, but he will not play a role in the June internationals.

United confirms two Youth appointments

United have made two new appointments at the youth team level as part of their wider improvements to the sports science department. Alex Ouzounoglou has arrived at Carrington from Burnley, where he has spent over ten years, and Matt Walker has joined the club from Cambridge United.

Ouzounoglou has taken on the role of Head of Athletic Development for the Youth Development Stage, working with players ages 12 to 16. Walker will serve as the head of athletic development for the professional development stage, working with players between the ages of 17 and 23.
