Manchester United could offer ‘special’ player in exchange for Harry Kane . to contract

Marcus Rashford could be offered to Tottenham by Manchester United as part of their bid to sign Harry Kane, according to the Independent.

United seem keen to bring in Kane, but his asking price could be prohibitive without throwing in some players to get the cash down.

Manchester City tried a similar approach last summer but of course Kane did not leave north London in the end, despite a protracted saga.

And that has seemingly raised the prospect that Kane and his England team-mate Rashford could switch clubs this summer, although it remains a distant prospect for now.

Their update reads:A number of options are still being considered (by Arsenal) from Napoli’s Victor Osimhen to Cody Gakpo of PSV Eindhoven.

Marcus Rashford is not seen as likely at the moment as everyone wants to see how things are going at Manchester United with the appointment of Erik Ten Hag.

More interestingly, if not more likely, the England star has been mooted as a possible makeweight in a United move for Harry Kane.

Kane’s future is another that depends on what happens to Conte.”

Can there be a trade between Kane and Rashford?

These swap deals are often talked about, but getting them over the line is difficult because of the amount of moving parts.

Daniel Levy is notoriously difficult to negotiate with and it is hard to see him give in to his demand for a record British transfer fee for Kane.

Clearly signing a replacement as part of the deal could be attractive, but is Rashford really a centre-forward who can take charge?

He tends to look more dangerous from the left, but Son Heung-min is level up beyond that and the Englishman seems lost on the right, where Dejan Kulusevski looks set to be bought by the Spurs anyway.

Rashford’s talent has been described as ‘special’ by Gary Lineker, a man who knows a thing or two about attackers, but he has lost his way at Old Trafford and his confidence is spot on.
