Mayo firm officially opens new €1.5 million. start-of-the-art facility

TELUS International, a leading digital customer experience (CX) innovator that designs, builds and delivers next-generation solutions for global and disruptive brands, including AI and content moderation, today officially opened its state-of-the-art site in Ballina.

The facility that will support the company’s creation and improvement of data to enable better AI through human intelligence.

“In addition, this significant investment in the Mayo community builds on our company’s strong 17-year legacy of establishing and expanding TELUS International’s operations and teams in 28 countries around the world.

“It represents our long-term commitment to supporting citizens, community and infrastructure in the regions where we operate.”

TELUS International AI Data Solutions helps companies test and improve machine learning models through the global AI community of more than one million annotators and linguists.

The company processes all data types in more than 500 languages ​​and dialects to improve AI systems in a range of applications, from advanced smart products to better search results, to expanded speech recognition and more human-like bot interactions.

The €1.5 million investment follows the company’s acquisition of Lionbridge AI and the addition of 30 new roles.

TELUS International AI Data Solutions currently has more than 200 team members in the region.

The new Ballina location features new meeting rooms for collaboration between team members, ergonomically designed work areas, a dedicated bicycle storage area with access to shower facilities, a canteen with healthy snacks and drinks, as well as a snooker table and stunning views of the River Moy.

Over the past two years, TELUS International regional team members have volunteered over 7,000 hours and donated over €110,000 to charities in Ireland through fundraising events and corporate donations.

On July 16, TELUS International sponsored Ballina’s local triathlon, Salmon Run. TELUS International also sponsors the Ballina Women and Girls football teams, as well as the Time To Read initiative, which supports the literacy skills of young people in the local Scoil Íosa.
