Missing 85-year-old woman believed to have died in collision with truck in Bankstown

A person who died Wednesday night after being hit by a truck near Bankstown on Wednesday night is believed to be missing 85-year-old woman Sabat Abdul Massih.

Bankstown Police Area Command officers were called to Rookwood Road in Potts Hill shortly before 7 p.m. Wednesday after multiple reports of triple zero that a person had walked on the busy road.

Before the police arrived, a B double lorry hit a female pedestrian. The 70-year-old truck driver was taken to Bankstown Hospital after trying to help, but the woman died at the scene.

Although the woman has not yet been formally identified, Abdul Massih’s family has been notified.

The Cumberland woman was last seen walking on Cross Street, Guildford, at 7am on Wednesday. Her disappearance involved members of her family as she had dementia and other medical conditions.

Information received by police suggested she was in the Auburn area around 2 p.m. Wednesday.
