Nicole is currently filming her upcoming Amazon drama series Expats, which is based on Janice YK Lee’s novel The Expatriates and follows the vibrant and extravagant life of a wealthy expat community.
She started the project in Hong Kong in August last year amid the country’s Covid-19 restrictions.
At the time, the Hong Kong government announced that Nicole had been granted an exemption from the country’s mandatory seven-day quarantine so she could film expats.
As part of her waiver, according to Dimsumdaily Hong Kong, Nicole was required to be vaccinated against Covid-19, reside in a “designated residence,” undergo regular testing for the virus, and provide “work-related routes.”
News of Kidman’s exemption quickly sparked reactions on social media, with several Hong Kong residents complaining about the famed visitor’s apparent “double standard.”
