Hundreds of nurses will demonstrate on Thursday at the National Mall in Washington, DC, to call for better working conditions and to commemorate the loss of health care providers to the pandemic.
The National Nurses March kicks off at 9am with a march to the US Capitol and a rally at Audi Field at 11am.
The organization says it will increase wages, improve staffing levels, prevent violence against health workers and fight discrimination and prejudice, a press release said.
“Many great things will happen, including music and celebrations, as well as a beautiful memorial to those we lost to COVID-19,” said one protester. “This is our time for change.”
The march coincides with the last day of National Nurses Week.
