One dead, two seriously injured after head-on collision in Scarborough

One person has died and two others have been taken to hospital after a head-on collision in Scarborough.

Toronto police said “several” were injured after a reported head-on collision on Steeles Avenue and Reesor Road, on the border between Scarborough and Markham, late Monday night.

The injuries ranged from serious to life-threatening, police said initially.

Toronto Paramedic Services said they received a call about the collision around 10:25 PM

One person was pronounced dead at the scene, paramedics later confirmed, while two others were seriously injured.

Toronto Paramedic Services said they transported a man in his 20s to a trauma center with serious injuries, while York Regional Paramedic Services transported another patient in serious condition to a local hospital.

At least one vehicle was on fire after the collision and the Toronto Fire Department were also called to the scene.

The intersection has been closed for police investigations.

The cause of the fatal collision is not yet known.
