A pieceWano’s saga has come to an end in the manga, but the anime series is still adapting one of the series’ biggest battles to date. As the television series catches up, one of the most important moments in Luffy’s life is approaching. Gear Fifth is set to hit the small screen soon, and a new album cover gives us a glimpse into Luffy’s most powerful transformation in color.
Over the course of Eiichiro Oda’s epic swashbuckling series, Luffy has achieved four transformations bestowed upon him through hard work and the wild skills of his Devil Fruit. In his fight against Kaido, Gear Fifth came to the fore thanks to the revelation that his Devil Fruit was actually part of the Mythical Zoan line of edibles, giving Luffy the power of the sun god Nika. In this new form, Luffy can effectively become a living cartoon, grow several sizes, while also being able to perform feats such as transforming random material into a rubbery substance and managing to pluck lightning bolts from the sky to hurl at enemies. With Gear Fifth coming to the anime adaptation almost, Toei Animation has certainly done their job for them with Luffy’s new technique.
Twitter user Food Boby shared a first look at the 103rd volume of One Piece’s manga, which not only gives us a new look at Luffy’s Gear Fifth in color, but also shows Kaido in its hybrid form, along with Worst Generation Law and Kidd to name a few:

Eiichiro Oda took a month-long hiatus and recently returned to his manga masterpiece, promising that the current storyline will be the “Final Arc” of the series. After working on the franchise for over two decades, the manga artist has promised to leave everything on the table and it certainly wouldn’t be a surprise if we see a lot more of Luffy’s Gear Fifth transformation in the Straw Hat Pirates’ final journey.
