Ottawa has a new Peking Duck restaurant and you think you are dining in Beijing

A new dining experience has hit the Byward Market and you won’t find this type of Chinese food anywhere else in Ottawa. If you’ve always wanted to go to Beijing but can’t go now, check out this new restaurant and feel like you’ve been transported to China.

QuanJu The Peking Duck is a well-known food brand in China, which has been around since the 1800s. This popular spot has a Markham location where you can feast on authentic Peking duck and other fine dining, and now they’ve just started shopping in Ottawa.

Those wishing to eat here must pre-book both to reserve a table and eat the restaurant’s traditional duck.

Peking duck meals are the main attraction of this restaurant, so it’s something to add to your “must order” list if you go. The way they prepare and serve the duck is as much an experience as it is a meal (it’s not fast food to say the least).

An Ottawa food blogger, Anny Cao, told Narcity that the chef cuts out the duck right in front of you and serves it right along with some side dishes. They also have a thin crepe-style wrap to roll up some of the duck, along with some veggies and sauce to enjoy.

From the red accents inside and the luxurious decor to the way the dishes are displayed and the unique meals on offer, you’ll seriously think you’ve been transported to China. In addition to the roast duck, you will find menu items here such as braised beef shank, marinated jellyfish, fried chicken with mango, stewed sea cucumber and crispy king prawns. yum!
