The Chicago Blackhawks are going to be one of the worst teams in the National Hockey League this season. With Patrick Kane in the last year of his contract, his status will be one of the main topics this season.
There is a chance the Blackhawks will trade him in this season if they don’t agree to an extension. He’d like to stay, but the Blackhawks could get a lot out of him.
He is still an incredibly prolific player and has a lot of experience in winning throughout his NHL career. A contender may appreciate that a lot and pay too much to get it.
One team that could take a look is the Los Angeles Kings. They took a big step forward in 2021-22 and were able to make a splash. If they did, the transaction could look like one of these three:
2023 First round choice
2023 Third Round Pick (PIT)
Patrick Kane would be a perfect fit for the Los Angeles Kings this season.
The Los Angeles Kings surprised a lot of people in 2021-22. They had 99 points in the Pacific Division and qualified for the Stanley Cup Playoffs. They played a very good run in the first round against the Edmonton Oilers but fell in seven games.
A player like Patrick Kane may be able to help them get out of the first round for the first time since winning the Stanley Cup in 2014. He is still one of the most dynamic attacking players in the league who could really help them.
There should probably be a paycheck here, but that’s why the Blackhawks would get a return. This great pick from the first round of A 2023 is incredibly valuable as this upcoming version is going to be awesome. Even a choice for the third round in 2023 is something that will help any team.
Bringing in a player like Alex Turcotte (who was a top-five draft pick) is also something that fits with what the Chicago Blackhawks are trying to do. If Los Angeles is willing to give him up in a deal, this could turn out well.
