Tottenham have reportedly matched Manchester United’s €50million offer for Pau Torres, despite the player apparently admitting he wants to move to Old Trafford.
The defender was regularly linked with a move to the Theater of Dreams this summer, with club officials in contact with his representatives. Erik ten Hag is looking at a centre-back or two for his expected revamp at United this summer.
Tottenham already saw a £42.5 million bid for Torres accepted last summer, but the defender chose to remain in the Champions League against Villarreal. However, as his club finished seventh in La Liga this season, Torres is reportedly looking to leave.

Now Cadena SER reports that Spurs have again put out a £42.5m bid, as have United. The source says that of the two, Torres has set his heart on Old Trafford.
Negotiations with both clubs are underway and a trip to England could be at stake for the players’ agents. Manchester City and Chelsea have also been in touch with Torres’ close contacts, but no offers have been received from either, it seems.
Meanwhile, ESPN reports that there is “confidence on all sides” that West Ham can make a deal for Jesse Lingard. It says Newcastle has now withdrawn from pursuing the England international.
The Magpies had previously said they would talk to the player, but only if he cut his weekly wage demands of £150,000. AC Milan and Juventus are both said to be interested in Lingard, but it looks like there will be a return to the Hammers.
