PCB Police Arrest 21 Men for Human Trafficking, Internet Crime Involving Children

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) – The Panama City Beach Police Department held a meeting with other agencies on Wednesday to discuss two separate operations. Operation Rogue Wave and Operation Rollback.

Operation Rogue Wave began on May 18 and ended on May 22. It included the arrest of 21 men allegedly involved in human trafficking and internet crimes involving children.

The charges include traveling to meet a minor for sexual activity, soliciting a child for sexual acts and possessing child pornography.

Chief JR Talamanez said parents should keep an eye on children when they use the internet.

“The internet is not a safe place, it is not a place where our children need to be unsupervised,” Talamanez said.

During the operation, 13 people were arrested for traveling to meet a child for sexual activity and six were arrested for possessing and/or distributing child pornography. Nineteen of the arrested men are from the Panhandle. Three others have issued arrest warrants.

“You might as well go to the police and turn yourself in,” Talamanez said.

Officials said the police posed as minors to arrest them.

The operation involved multiple agencies, including the Bay County Sheriff’s Office and the Panama City Police Department.
