Police hunt for sexual attacker after heavy attack on woman in South Manchester

Police are asking for information following a serious assault in Withington in the early hours of today. A woman has reported being attacked by a man in the Cotton Lane neighborhood of Withington around 3 a.m.

A second witness later reported that a man committed a sexual act on himself in nearby Egerton Road about 20 minutes later. Police believe the two incidents may be linked.

The victim of the attack described the suspect as a white man, between six and six feet, with shaggy brown hair and wearing a red T-shirt. Chief Inspector Tony Norman, from GMP’s City of Manchester South division, said: “We are investigating both incidents and are open to whether they are linked.

“The victim of the attack is being supported by specialized agents and we are following several lines of investigation.
