Prince George’s County Hosts First Mental Health Exhibition | WDVM25 & DCW50

BOWIE, Md. (WDVM) – In honor of Mental Health Month, the Prince George’s County Department of Health in partnership with Volunteers of America Chesapeake & Carolinas held their first youth mental health expo.

Several people were present. Its purpose was to provide mental health screenings and show the youth in the community the different resources available to all who need it.

Several community members sat on a panel to talk about how they were dealing with mental health, and they even held workshops on various topics.

“Since the pandemic grows, you see an increase in depression and anxiety among our young people. And so we see that there is a pandemic within a pandemic. So we all need to work together and come together and come together to share this valuable information with everyone,” said Dr. Sheryl Neverson, vice president of Maryland programs at Volunteers of America Chesapeake & Carolinas.
