REVIEW: Our take on Dokes Pizzeria in Prestwich

When the news came about the opening of a brand new pizza restaurant in Prestwich, we sent our reporters to try it out for ourselves.

Dokes Pizzeria in Prestwich officially opened its doors on Wednesday 20th July and sells authentic brick oven pizza using the finest British produce.

The Bury New Road site also offers a range of brunch and lunch dishes.

Alice Gerrard, who was along with fellow Bury Times reporters Harriet Heywood and Isabel Oldman, has described what their experience was like at the location.

Our review of the evening menu of Dokes Pizzeria

When we arrived at Dokes Pizzeria in Prestwich, we were greeted by friendly and attentive staff who showed us to our table.

The restaurant has a booth-style layout and has an open kitchen so you can watch your pizza being prepared right in front of you.

The menu has a wide variety of appetizers and pizzas, as well as salads and pasta dishes.

For starters, aptly called ‘bits’ on the menu, I decided on the anchovies marinated in rapeseed oil and lemon, Harriet went for the croquette of the week which was one with lamb and Isabel went for the pickles and ferments in a ricotta. of lemon thyme.

The food was beautifully presented and the plates were cleaned in record time.

The croquette was filled with tender lamb which was extremely light and tender and delicious, the anchovies were perfectly salted and seasoned and the pickles and ferments were the perfect dish for anyone vegetarian/vegan.

Next up was the star of the show – the pizza.

I controversially went for the ‘Pineapple’ pizza, an upscale ‘ham and pineapple’ pizza, Harriet went for the ‘Roll Right’ pizza which was topped with new potato, smoked bacon, Rollright cheese and crème frache, the favorite from the chief.

Isabel went for the ‘Funghi’ pizza topped with wild, seasonal mushrooms, candied garlic and truffle sourced locally and one of three vegetarian and vegan options.

Again, the conversation was minimal and we were all very impressed and extremely full.

The relaxed atmosphere along with the music make it the perfect place to go out with friends and were certainly a nice change from our usual Wednesday nights!

Despite being stuffed with pizza and even asking for a doggy bag it would have been rude not to order dessert – so we did.

I went for a lemon posset with macerated strawberries in an attempt to feel a little healthier and it was beautifully light with a hearty kick of lemon and Harriet and Isabel tackled the chocolate brownie with salted caramel ice cream and popcorn which looked heavenly.

With reasonable prices and a wide range of drinks, Dokes is the perfect place to go with family, friends or colleagues.

If you live in the area, we definitely recommend you go down and support the new restaurant and try their amazing pizzas for yourself.

We definitely think you won’t be disappointed!
