The spectacle known as the Boeing Maritime Celebration Seattle Fleet Week returns to Seafair once again after a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic, bringing with it a slew of events, both old and new.
The celebration kicks off with the Parade of Ships through Elliot Bay, followed by a week of events where the public is invited to meet the sailors and watchmen, enjoy free music and take boat tours.
Seattle Seafair announces full return after two-year pandemic hiatus
Seafair has hosted Fleet Week on the Seattle waterfront since 1950 in honor of the men and women who serve our country. This year, Seafair, along with Boeing, the Seattle Navy League and the Port of Seattle, is proud to welcome ships and personnel from the United States Navy, the United States Coast Guard and the Royal Canadian Navy.
⚓ Seafair is HERE! Monday through Wednesday (8/1-8/3): Drop by Pier 62 for three fun-filled days curated by our marine partner organizations, including a parade of ships, boat trips, US Navy Band tunes, and more! https://t.co/RsCDViR5SX

Ninety percent of the consumer products you use every day arrive in the US via ocean. Climb aboard these amazing ships and see the professional men and women who pour trade all over the world to our shores.
With 70% of the Earth’s surface covered in water, state-of-the-art technology is needed to protect the world’s waterways.
The Navy band will also be on hand to play in the Navy’s Seafair Fleet, which will make landfall on the Seattle waterfront at 12:30 p.m. August 1.
The band also marched in Saturday’s Torchlight Parade from the Seattle Center downtown, as did many of the much-loved bands, drill teams, local businesses, and other organizations.
The US Navy is also introducing its new virtual reality system called Nimitz, which they call a “mobile, state-of-the-art virtual reality experience that simulates rapid extraction of Navy SEALs under attack.”
Participants are given an Oculus headset and a vest called SubPac, which simulates feeling the sounds of the mission. Using a steering wheel and throttle, visitors can navigate during the mission using a Navy Special Warfare Combat Craft.
Nimitz will be housed in an 18-wheeler in Genesee Park from 9am to 5pm Friday through Sunday.
Seafair proudly supports all military services and is grateful for its commitment to our country. As a thank you, Seafair is offering all military personnel free access to Seafair Festival Weekend on August 5-7, 2022.
