Sevilla looking for double deal to sign Eric Bailly and Alex Telles

Sevilla have turned their attention to Manchester United defender Eric Bailly to replace Jules Kounde, and are also planning to sign Alex Telles.

Kounde – who was linked with United last season – has recently come to Barcelona and Sevilla are in need of a new centre-back.

Spanish outlet AS reports that Sevilla could earn more than £50million from the Koude deal and United want around £12.5million for Bailly.

That could work in United’s favor as Bailly has been linked to a reunion with Jose Mourinho at Roma, but on loan.

Seville wants Bailly

Sevilla, of course, had Anthony Martial on loan for the second half of last season, but that blow didn’t work out well for anyone involved.

Injuries hampered Martial’s time in Spain and Bailly was unable to stay fit enough to ever settle into United’s squad.

The report says it is certain that Bailly will leave United this summer as he is looking for a new chapter in his career.

Now that we’ve fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford, it would be better for everyone involved if that were the case, but United have not been particularly adept at getting unwanted players out the door over the past ten years.

Sevilla appear to have the money to pay what United want for Bailly and there are now two interested clubs in his signature.

The Ivorian is now the fifth-choice centre-back and must make the switch for the sake of his own career.

If United fail to turn this situation around, it will be a reminder that the same problems linger on the recruiting side despite the arrival of Erik ten Hag.

United could use the Bailly fee for a player the club wants, and it’s clear Ten Hag wants even more before the window closes.

Sevilla could offer the Champions League and a return to La Liga, which should appeal to Bailly, and it could be up to Mourinho to be creative to convince the defender to rejoin him in Italy.

Seville approaching Telles

Fabrizio Romano reports Sevilla has signed a double deal to sign Alex Telles, who is redundant at Old Trafford.

The arrival of Tyrell Malacia has pushed the former Porto man up the pecking order and this deal feels advanced.

Telles played out of position as a central defender during United’s pre-season tour. He spent two seasons at Old Trafford but failed to convince as the long-term solution at left-back.

The chance to play Champions League football should appeal to Telles, who hopes to secure a place in Brazil’s World Cup squad.
