The Joplin Program is designed to help veterans struggling with mental health issues

JOPLIN, Mo. – A mental health crisis can happen to anyone at any time.

For many veterans, it is common to isolate themselves and fight with thoughts alone without seeking help.

The Joplin-based Veteran Integration Program, also known as VIP, helps veterans in the area collaborate with other community groups.

The program provides assistance to veterans with both physical and mental health problems.

Roger Koch, a veteran and military liaison for VIP, says it’s important for veterans to get past the reluctance to ask for help when needed.
