Tyrell Malacia shows with impressive display why United want to sign him

One of the transfer options that Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has this summer is a transfer for Feyenoord left-back Tyrell Malacia.

The Mirror reported earlier in May that Ten Hag is considering a £20 million transfer for the defender.

Tyrell Malacia showed why United are reportedly excited about a transfer with an impressive performance for Feyenoord in the Europa Conference League final against Roma.

Feyenoord were beaten 1-0 by Jose Mourinho’s side despite dominating the second half, with Malacia impressive.

Tyrell Malacia shows why Ten Hag wants him

Tyrell Malacia showed why he is so highly regarded with a strong performance from both sides of the field in a hard-fought final with Roma.

A constant threat and an open outlet in the final third, Malacia hooked up well with winger Luis Sinsiterra and caused problems for the Roma defense without putting in too much effort.

He likes to make crosses, mixing his deliveries with low-drilled balls in the center, to cause a scramble in the Roma defence.

Malacia created two chances and completed 41 of 43 passes, a 95 percent success rate, and also made one successful dribble.

In the back Malacia did everything he was asked to do well; Roma’s winning goal came from the right side.

The 22-year-old is eager to tackle, but doesn’t dive in and uses his judgment well. He won all four tackles for which he competed.

Malacia also made one clearance and three recoveries, winning two free kicks and conceding only one. He won seven of the ten ground matches he competed for, making a total of 79 goals.

He played 89 minutes before Feyenoord made a late tactical switch to add an extra striker, but it was to no avail.

Jose Mourinho’s side held on to a 1-0 win despite only having 33 percent of the ball.

Manchester United may need to add another left-back if Alex Telles is sold. Portuguese newspaper Correia da Manha claimed this week that former club Porto would like to re-sign him.

If United eventually enter the market for another left-back, it makes sense to be interested in Malacia, who appears to be a brilliant talent, who would be a shred for £20million.

Dan still wonders what would have happened if United had kept Juan Veron…
