Dramatic police footage captured the moment that a nationwide manhunt ended in Indiana earlier this week after Casey White, a suspected murderer, was arrested and the body of his lover Vicky White was pulled from a car wreckage.

Ms. White, the 56-year-old district attorney, and White, an inmate serving a 75-year sentence for attempted murder, ended up in a chase and crash in Evansville. She died of what a coroner said was a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

White was taken into custody and told officers to help his “wife”, it is alleged. The couple is said to have been in a romantic relationship for about two years before escaping from prison more than 10 days ago, and were unmarried.

A chilling 911 call released after the crash revealed that Ms White told the capital murder suspect, “Let’s go outside and run”. She also seemed to blame White for wanting to stay “in a ******** motel” right before their crash.

The investigation into the ordeal is still ongoing, as police are increasingly questioned about how the fugitives escaped arrest for more than a week.

Vicky White reportedly told a former inmate who visited the prison to ‘stay on the straight and narrow’ the day she helped Casey White escape

Vicky White, the Alabama district attorney who helped prime murder suspect Casey White escape from prison, reportedly told a former inmate to “stay on the straight and narrow” during a visit that took place just hours before she became a fugitive.

Deborah Burbank, who describes herself as a “friend for life” to Ms. White, told the… Daily mail that her daughter – who used to be incarcerated – went back to visit the prison and ran into the prosecutor.

“Vicky spoke to my daughter and said how proud she was for getting her life back on track. She said how important it was to stay on the straight and narrow,” Ms Burbank said. “We’ve talked about it since then and she’s thought about it, but she says Vicky was the way she always was. She didn’t say anything was wrong. We’re all just shaken up.’
