Woman arrested for ‘eating her daughter’s hamster in exchange for drugs’

A video too barbaric to show has led to a woman being arrested on suspicion of animal cruelty after allegedly killing and eating her daughter’s hamster.

The gruesome clip was uploaded to Facebook and reportedly shows the mother killing and then eating the family’s hamster, using a bottle of water to wash the poor animal down. She would have performed the sick stunt in exchange for crack cocaine, The Mirror reports.

Lincolnshire Police have confirmed that a woman from Grantham, south Lincolnshire, was arrested Thursday (June 23) as part of an RSPCA investigation. The mother has since been released, but is still under investigation by the police.

A police spokesperson said: “We have arrested a 39-year-old woman on suspicion of animal cruelty after a disturbing video posted on social media depicting an act with a hamster.

“The Grantham woman was arrested by our officers yesterday (June 23) following an investigation led by the RSPCA. She has been released under investigation and we will continue to support the RSPCA in their investigation.”

A spokesperson for the RSPCA encouraged anyone who comes across the horrific video on social media to report it to the appropriate platform. People were reminded not to share shocking images online.

“This is an extremely disturbing video and we want to reassure the public that we are investigating the police and working closely together,” the animal welfare organization said.

“Please do not call us about this video unless you have first hand information about the incident that would assist an investigation as it could prevent distress calls about animals in distress from reaching us.

“If you see this video on social media, please report it to the platform immediately. Please do not share or comment on the video as this will increase the chances of other people seeing it and getting upset.”
