XIII Remake Gets Huge Update From New Developer With Reworked Art Style, Improved AI And More

Publisher Microids has announced that the maligned XIII remake of 2020 is getting a major free update in September.

In a rather daring move, Microids took the development of the XIII remake away from PlayMagic and instead entrusted the French studio Tower Five to work on the project. The result is this update, which has been over a year in the making, and should help players “enjoy the game as intended”.

The development studio has reworked the entire game, from the Art Direction to the AI, and added numerous technical improvements. official announcement

You can see a full list of the changes coming to XIII on Xbox below below.

  • Refined art style
  • Improved AI
  • Reworked HUD
  • Renewed Sound Design
  • 60FPS on Xbox Series X|S / PlayStation 5
  • Online Multiplayer (2-13 players)

Launched in November 2020 on Xbox One, XIII has been heavily criticized for its high number of bugs and glitches, while also bringing back the original game’s cel-shaded artwork, leaving Microids and the original developer PlayMagic apologies for the state of the game at the time

With this new update, it will be interesting to see how much of a difference it will make to the game’s art style, and whether it can really change the fate of the much-maligned remake. The update will launch on all platforms on September 13, 2022.
